Luella M. Selck, 92, of Tripoli, died Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 29th, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be made in her name to Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli.
Luella Marie, daughter of Adolph and Anna Oberheu Brase, was born August 5, 1922, in rural Bremer County, Iowa. She received her education in the parochial school at Buck Creek. Luella was united in marriage with Edward W. Selck on February 1, 1948, at Buck Creek. She and Edward made their home on a farm in the Tripoli area. Luella was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli where she belonged to the women’s circle. She enjoyed reading, knitting, embroidery, chickens, and kittens. In 2008, she became a resident of the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.
Luella is survived by two sons, Lee (Kathy) Selck of Fredericksburg and Lloyd Selck and his wife, Jo Bravener-Selck of Sumner; a daughter-in-law, Diana Selck of Sumner; six grandchildren, Kandie Selck, Terry Schmidt, Keith Selck (Kristen Dooley), Laura Selck (Rick Kolbet), Misty (Jim) Heyer, and Adam Selck (Christy Butler); five great-grandchildren, Jamie, Alex, and Ray Alfseike, Shawn Ohm, and Samantha Schmidt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband who died on November 12, 1993; one son, Larry Selck on July 8, 2013; and one brother, Wilbert Brase.
